Cloud Flexibility with Enterprise Security
Caliber hosts CAD NG servers and databases in the Caliber Public Safety Cloud, allowing agencies to install the CAD workstation software on local hardware, and leaving all the complicated server-side of the solution to Caliber’s cloud technicians.
Workstation updates are automatically downloaded and applied as they are released, reducing maintenance windows and IT strain. Your center benefits from FIPS 140-2 NIST-compliant encryption, compliance programs, fully redundant power and network, and secure off-site disaster recovery between redundant data centers. As a strategic partner with Nlets since 2008, we deliver a secure and reliable environment that helps dispatchers focus on the call, not the infrastructure.

The Power of Collaborative Information Sharing
In Stone County, MS, an incident occurred that underscored the critical importance of information sharing among agencies. While supporting the night shift, dispatchers received a Domestic Dispute call. They faced an unexpected obstacle: the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) was temporarily down for maintenance, hindering their access to essential background information.
Fortunately, dispatchers received alerts from Caliber CADNG indicating that both subjects involved in the dispute were possibly wanted in Harrison County, MS. A prompt call to Harrison County confirmed active warrants for both individuals.
This event highlights the effectiveness of Caliber InterDEx and the power of collaborative information sharing, demonstrating the ability to access vital data even when NCIC is unavailable.

Computer Aided Dispatch FAQs
What is Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)?
Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software is a mission-critical platform used by law enforcement, fire, and EMS to receive emergency calls, pinpoint incident locations via GPS, allocate the closest available units, and track incident data in real-time.
How does CAD integrate with Records Management Systems (RMS)?
Modern CAD systems seamlessly integrate with RMS to ensure that data captured during an emergency response (such as incident details, unit times, and location data) automatically flows into the agency's records, eliminating duplicate data entry and improving reporting accuracy.
Can CAD software be deployed in the cloud?
Yes, many modern Computer Aided Dispatch systems offer cloud-based or hybrid deployment options. Cloud CAD solutions provide enhanced disaster recovery, easier updates, and the ability for dispatchers to access the system remotely during critical incidents.
What are the core features of a CAD system?
Core features of a CAD system include real-time unit tracking, automated call routing and triage, interactive mapping, mobile data terminal (MDT) integration for field units, and robust reporting capabilities.
How does Computer Aided Dispatch Work?
A CAD system works by instantly identifying a caller's location and incident details the moment a 9-1-1 call is received. It prioritizes the call based on severity and dispatches the nearest available field units in seconds. Caliber Public Safety’s CAD integrates advanced GIS mapping, real-time resource tracking, and NG9-1-1 capabilities to provide dispatchers and first responders with a unified, real-time operational picture.
How much does a Computer Aided Dispatch system cost?
The cost of a CAD system varies based on your agency's size, operational requirements, user count, and deployment preference (cloud-hosted vs. on-premise). Pricing is also influenced by necessary integrations, such as NG9-1-1, GIS mapping, and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) access. Caliber Public Safety offers scalable solutions designed to fit the budgets of local, county, and state agencies.
