Keyser Police Department in West Virginia is a small department of twelve officers serving a community of approximately 5,000. The department handles just over five-thousand calls for service a year. Chief Paul Sabin who rose through the departments ranks was appointed as Chief in December 2019. The department operates to professional standards in accordance with state and federal requirements and actively promotes community engagement.

Until recently, Keyser Police Department had been relying on a combination of legacy technology and spreadsheets to maintain their day-to-day operations. The Records Management Solution (RMS) employed by the agency was not only out of date; it did not support all of their needs, leaving officers reliant on disparate tools to document and report on their activities.

In order to increase efficiency and maintain compliance with State Reporting requirements the Keyser Police turned to Caliber Public Safety and Online RMS. Caliber has a proven track record with the CAD and RMS deployed to many neighboring agencies in West Virginia and had been highly recommended.

Embracing new technologies and changing the way things have always been done can cause uncertainty and trepidation. Caliber’s proven technology and implementation process is designed from start to finish to prepare, equip, guide and support individuals and organizations to successfully adopt change and drive organizational success.

Keyser Police successfully went live on Caliber’s Online RMS product on May 8, 2020. “We found the system to be very user friendly, reducing report writing time for the officers and enabling them to get back to patrol much sooner. Our communications officer also relayed their satisfaction and ease of use. Being a small department of twelve officers and budget to match, this system is a fiscally responsible use of funds” remarked Chief Sabin.
